I just consolidated duplicate/redundant blog labels. When creating new posts, you can click "Show all" (next to where it says "Labels") and choose from among the currently existing blog labels. If none of the current labels fit your post, feel free to create a new one, but try to use a broad-based label.

Also, remember that commas are used for separating one label from another within the label box, so don't use commas in your label boxes unless you are using them for that purpose.
